These terms govern your use of NYC Building Report at nycbuildingreport.com (the “site”). By using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site. This is not legal advice.

What the site is

NYC Building Report is an independent, unofficial directory. It compiles publicly available New York City records—such as property characteristics, complaints, violations, bedbug reports, 311 requests, and recorded residential unit information—so people can look up a building by address.

The site is not an official City of New York website, and it is not affiliated with the Department of Buildings, HPD, DOF, or any other city agency. Source data comes from public datasets (including NYC Open Data) and may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect.

No professional advice

Reports are for general information only. They are not legal, financial, engineering, safety, insurance, or real-estate advice, and they are not an appraisal, title search, or official certificate of occupancy. Do not rely on the site as the sole basis for buying, selling, renting, lending, or making safety decisions. Confirm important facts with the original city records and qualified professionals.

Accuracy and availability

We try to import public datasets faithfully and not invent building facts when a source is blank. We do not warrant that the site is complete, current, or error-free, or that access will be uninterrupted. Rankings, totals, and summaries are derived from the records we have imported and can change when those records are refreshed.

Your use of the site

You agree to use the site only for lawful purposes. You may not:

Feedback

If you send feedback, you grant us a non-exclusive right to use that content to operate and improve the site. Do not include confidential or highly sensitive information. Optional email addresses are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.

The site may link to city data portals or other websites. Those sites have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for their content or policies.

We do not warrant that public-record summaries on the site match the city’s official files at any given moment.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NYC Building Report and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100).

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the site and its operator from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the site or violation of these terms.

Changes and termination

We may change these terms, or change or discontinue the site, at any time. The effective date at the top will change when the terms are updated. We may suspend access if we believe these terms are being violated.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that courts located in New York, New York are an appropriate venue for disputes that a court must resolve, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
