NYC Building Report
Public API
Version 1 · read-only JSON
NYC Building Report is an independent website that aggregates public New York City building records into a simple report. This API exposes the same search and report data as JSON for software, research, and AI agents. It is not an official City of New York service. There is no authentication.
Machine-readable specification: OpenAPI 3.
What you can do
- Search for a building by street address or BIN
- Retrieve the public report for a building, including counts and individual records
The API is GET-only. It does not create, update, or delete records. Underlying filings come from NYC Open Data and other public NYC sources; we do not invent facts when a source is blank.
Search for a building
GET /api/v1/buildings/search?address=ADDRESS
Uses the same address resolution as the website. You can pass a street address (optionally with
a borough) or a 7-digit BIN. At most 10 matches are returned. If nothing matches, you get HTTP
200 and an empty buildings array.

Retrieve a building report
GET /api/v1/buildings/{identifier}
identifier is either a BIN (1015862) or a borough and slug
(manhattan/350-5th-avenue). The JSON includes property attributes, DOB complaints
and violations, HPD violations, bedbug filings, 311 requests, recorded residential units, counts,
the canonical website URL, attribution, and a site last-updated timestamp.
Individual record lists are capped at 100 items (newest first, except residential units which
follow unit order). Totals remain in counts. Building permits are not imported yet
and are returned as an empty array.
