Privacy Policy

NYC Building Report (“the site,” “we,” “us”) is an independent website at nycbuildingreport.com that publishes public New York City building records. This policy describes the information we handle when you use the site. It is not legal advice.

Public building records

Building reports show information compiled from public sources such as NYC Open Data. That material is about properties, city filings, and similar public records. It is not information you submit to us, and we do not treat it as your personal account data.

Information you may send us

You can use the site without creating an account. If you submit the optional feedback form on a building page, we receive:

• the note you write
• your email address, only if you choose to provide one
• the building page you were viewing

We use that information to understand what people are looking for and to reply if you left an email. Feedback is emailed to the site operator through our email provider, Resend. We do not use the form to run marketing lists.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers and hosting provider may record technical details such as IP address, browser type, date and time, and the pages requested. We use this to operate, secure, and debug the site.

In production we also use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic (for example, which pages are viewed). Google may set cookies and receive page-view information under Google’s privacy policy.

Cookies

The site uses a session cookie so forms can be submitted securely and so we can show a short confirmation after you send feedback. Analytics cookies may be set in production as described above. We do not use advertising cookies.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to run the site: hosting, email delivery for feedback, and analytics. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the site and its users.

Retention

Feedback emails are kept as long as they are useful for improving the site or responding to you. Server logs and analytics data follow the retention settings of those systems. Public building records stay on the site as part of the directory.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your choices

You can use the site without sending feedback or an email address. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; some features (such as sending feedback) may not work without the session cookie. You can also use browser or Google Analytics opt-out tools if you prefer not to be included in analytics.

Changes

We may update this policy as the site changes. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means the revised policy applies.
